Parts Origin - OEM
The term OEM stands for 'Original Equipment Manufacturer', the exact meaning differs in several industries.
To us, OEM means that the part is the same part used within your device, using the same materials and specifications.
We use the term OEM to cover many parts from refurbished, used and new components, the exact condition will be stated in the items description.
In some cases when the part supplied is made up to several components (for example an LCD assembly) the part may have been assembled by a 3rd party vendor using OEM parts meaning that consumable may differ (such as adhesive used)
Although strict testing procedures are put in place to ensure the quality of the part these testing practices and procedures may differ from the checks manufacturers use.
Any hardware supplied as OEM will not have any quality loss or loss of features and covered under our extensive returns policy.
As in many cases we dont obtain directly from the devices manufacturer, nor in some cases are we affiliated with device manufacturer in any way and they are not involved in the testing or sales process of the component we sell.
Apple wanted to charge £200 for something I spent £56 and 30 minutes to fix myself! Online instructions say this is "advanced", though as long as you're careful it's an easy fix to do. All you have to do (and I'd advise following an online video tutorial whilst doing so) is unscrew the back cover, unscrew the two speakers, unclip the battery and it's screws and then shimmy the battery out - which is the trickiest part, I used acetone/nail varnish remover and old credit card. Then peel off the adhesive on the replacement battery, stick in place and then screw/clip everything back. Job done. Replacebase provide the two screwdrivers you need to do this fix. Very pleased.
I have ordered quite a few and so far no problems with any of them!
Had ordered a battery. Issues with the product and Replace Base sent me a replacement ASAP and had it installed and works great. Thanks guys!!!
This battery was the 2013 version which I fitted (after some research) to my mid 2014 13" retina. I followed instructions on Youtube on how to remove the old battery (stuck in there with adhesive) and fitted this with no problems. All in all about 30 mins (going carefully). I am very happy with replacebase and would use them again in a heartbeat! Responsive replies to enquiries. Fast delivery...and the price was cheaper for an OEM replacement then what other places are charging for dodgy 3rd party batteries. If your beloved MacBook is not holding charge anymore-this makes it like a new machine again :)
I am extremely pleased with this purchase. After seeing a few videos on the internet and read all the difficulties in removing the battery because of the adhesive, I prepared myself for quite a few hours of work. But the replacement went much easier than I anticipated. Like John (above) I used 99% isopropanol in a syringe to soften the adhesive and used a thin but sturdy plastic spatula to get under the battery. I also wet the spatula with isopropanol a few times while I worked my way under the battery. The battery came off with no problems at all. Immediately after installing the new battery, the full charge capacity showed 106 %, and that hasn't changed during the last days. I am using CoconutBattery to check the charge. I am very pleased with my purchase, the price was good and the shipping to Sweden was swift. If I need a battery again to my mobile or my other macbook I will definitely shop here again!
I was sceptical about replacing the battery myself since apple don't sell replacement batteries to anyone and i've heard some horror stories about aftermarket batteries, this website is the only place I could find with a battery taken directly from a macbook(why don't more places do this?). The replacement process was easier than I expected I wet a credit card with 99% pure isopropyl alcohol (to help dissolve the glue) and slid the card under each individual cell until they were all free, then I placed the replacement battery (the adhesive comes pre-applied) in my MacBook and that was it. The battery itself works perfectly, and came at 100% capacity with 0 cycles, it's not mentioned in the description but they also include the both the screwdrivers you need to open the bottom case of the MacBook and the one you need to remove the internal screws
