Parts Origin - OEM
The term OEM stands for 'Original Equipment Manufacturer', the exact meaning differs in several industries.
To us, OEM means that the part is the same part used within your device, using the same materials and specifications.
We use the term OEM to cover many parts from refurbished, used and new components, the exact condition will be stated in the items description.
In some cases when the part supplied is made up to several components (for example an LCD assembly) the part may have been assembled by a 3rd party vendor using OEM parts meaning that consumable may differ (such as adhesive used)
Although strict testing procedures are put in place to ensure the quality of the part these testing practices and procedures may differ from the checks manufacturers use.
Any hardware supplied as OEM will not have any quality loss or loss of features and covered under our extensive returns policy.
As in many cases we dont obtain directly from the devices manufacturer, nor in some cases are we affiliated with device manufacturer in any way and they are not involved in the testing or sales process of the component we sell.
Wait until you receive the unit before buying the special tools necessary to remove the cover and battery clamp as in my case, they were included with the battery. My original battery manufacturer showed as DP, whereas the new battery manufacturer shows as SMP, so I can only conclude Apple use multiple suppliers for their OEM batteries. In use, the new battery shows a negative Amperage, whereas the original showed a positive number, although it appears to work okay in day to day use. Removal of the old battery cells (6) requires patience as they are mounted using double-sided adhesive tape. There are various videos online showing how this is can be achieved. The process is not for the faint-hearted. Always start with a fully discharged battery and disconnect from the machine before attempting to remove the cells. The battery does not come with either removal tools (I used some multi-strand wire employing the cheese-cutter method, but don't let it short on the battery cell terminals) or solvent (I prefer Isopropyl alcohol). These must be obtained separately. Also, be thorough when cleaning off the residual adhesive on the back of the keyboard and especially the trackpad, but use solvent sparingly. When fitting the new cells, be careful to align the connector BEFORE allowing the cells to stick in place. Overall, I would say this battery and in particular, the supplier can be considered acceptable. Only time will tell how good the battery proves to be.
A very good collaboration. Best regards...
